Dear Family,
Steve and I send our prayers to your family. We know that your mom enjoyed you all and she will be missed. 
We enjoyed her vivaciousness too when she came to Corpus Christi. Again, you are all in our prayers.

I will always have fond memories of my Mother-In-Law Mary Jo Grimes.  From the first moment I met her and my Father-In-Law Ed, I felt welcomed into the family and loved. 
Mary Jo gave all her children that unconditional love as only a Mother does, and I feel honored to have received some of that love as well. I will miss her zest for remembering events from the past or books she read, and hearing her sing ALL the verses to old songs like Chattanooga Choo Choo (one of her favorites).  I always told her she was a “tough cookie” after bouncing back from some personal set backs in recent years.  I'm sure she and Ed are now playing golf together on those Heavenly Greens.

May she find eternal rest in the Loving Arms of God Our Heavenly Father.

I am so sorry for your loss.  My prayers are with you and your family.  
Aunt Mary Jo was a lovely person and I know that she and Uncle Ed are celebrating their eternal life together.

Our prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow. I know your mother will be dearly missed. She was always so full of life.

Mary Jo (Lumley) Grimes began her journey through life on a rural Mesquite, Texas farm, the youngest of six children. Like most of that "Greatest Generation" she started with few of the advantages we take for granted today. There was little opportunity for education, lack of modern conveniences, and/or access to monetary resources. However handicapped at the start, mom persevered and went on to live a full and even privileged life. Her last surviving sibling, sister Alta Perl passed away in 2010 as did husband Edward whose spirit departed this life on September 2nd, their 60th wedding anniversary.

One thing I will always remember is how mom would recollect and re-tell stories about her youngest years and growing up. One of her favorites was how her family was so poor, it was only later, after it was over that she realized there had even been a Great Depression. Another was how much she liked working and especially what fun she had as a hostess at Sammy's, a Highland Park Village restaurant before getting married. 

I admit, and regret that on the whole, my "sure mom" response to her stories were generally dismissive. It is only now, in retrospect, that I can begin to fully appreciate the mental images she painted which define her character, essence, and legacy of unselfish love. I miss you mom-
