

He is survived by his wife, Carol, two daughters, Samantha and Celeste, his mother Geneva, and siblings Jo, Margot and Nick.
Born in Alexandria, LA and raised in Portland, OR Steve was the son of Roman and Geneva Jones. The middle child of 5 siblings, Steve was a peacemaker and a friend to all.
He was a man of many talents, most noted was his athletics. He was a state champion with Franklin High School, played for the University of Oregon where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame, and went on to play in the ABA as a 3 time All Star. It was also in the ABA where he earned the nickname Snapper. After his career in the ABA he went on to play for the Portland Trailblazers for one season. After retiring from the game he became an analyst for the Portland Trailblazers, and later for NBA on NBC, CBS, TNT, TBS, ESPN and Seattle Supersonics in a career that spanned over 25 years.
Off the court Steve was a loving husband for 37 years and an amazing Dad to his daughters. He had a big voice, a wealth of knowledge on all things sports and life, and an enormous heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A private memorial is being held for family and friends.
