Steven Edwin Pratt

5 April, 1953 – 7 May, 2022
IN THE CARE OF

Earthman Southwest Funeral Home

Steven Edwin Pratt passed away at home after a long illness, surrounded by family in Missouri City, Texas on May 7, 2022, at the age of 69. He was a silent warrior as he carried on for his family these past few years. Steve was born on April 5, 1953 in Findlay, Ohio, to Rosemary (Rakestraw) and Orval Pratt.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Marita (Amos) Pratt, son Tyler Pratt of Houston, Texas and daughter Danielle Pratt Hester and son-in-law Jesse Hester of Missouri City, Texas and grandchildren Lily and Lincoln. Steve is also survived by his sister-in-law Linda Amos of Missouri City, Texas and cousin Greg (Sandee) Rakestraw of Findlay, Ohio.

Steve graduated from Findlay High School in 1971, and from Ohio Northern University in 1976, with a B.S. in Biology. Steve began working for Marathon International Oil Company and moved to Houston in 1982 for them. He married his college sweetheart in 1978.

Loved by all who knew him, Steve was devoted to his family and loved studying the Bible, was active in men’s prayer and home Bible study groups. Having spent all of his summers on Lake Erie, he was an avid sailor and nature buff. Steve loved to be outside camping, hiking, fishing and enjoying nature especially with his grandkids. His love of Mustangs kept him active in car clubs until the very end, driving his 1968 Mustang and 2019 Bullitt as often as possible.

A Celebration of Life was held in the backyard he loved so much. Some of his ashes will be scattered at Lake Erie and Big Bend National Park, two of his favorite places. Steve will be deeply missed and and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
