

Victoria S. Duran, age 57, of Sugar Land, lost her courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer September 24, 2012. A native Houstonian, she was born January 7, 1955, and was a graduate from Milby High School. Victoria was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and her Lord. She always set high expectations for herself, her accomplished career history includes; working as an executive assistant for the Harris County Tax Office, and Polland & Cook, Southwestern Bell, and FDIC. Victoria reported to Paul Bettencourt and then Jim DeVore at the Harris County Tax Office.
A private person, yet always comforting to others, Victoria will always be remembered as always putting others needs before her own. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant to Him even throughout her illness. She enjoyed traveling to various cities in Texas and Louisiana. Victoria loved to shop, chocolate, and cooking various dishes for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the movies, her favorite character was Thumper from the movie Bambi. A proud, compassionate and happy person, it was very easy for her to make friends. Victoria is survived by her loving husband, Angel Frank Duran, Jr.; sons, Nicholas Duran, Robert Ruiz and wife Diana; grandchildren; Stephanie, Bobby, and Christian Ruiz, her mother, Dora Avilez; and numerous other loving relatives and friends
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd., Stafford, TX 77477, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, with a reception to follow. Rite of Committal to follow at 1:30 p.m., V. A. Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
