

Rosie was born to Clayton and Ruby Rowe on April 4, 1924 in Denton, Texas. She grew up in Big Spring, Texas and graduated from Big Spring High School. She attended some college at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. On June 6, 1942, she married the love of her life, Russell Wood. They were married 65 years until his death in 2008.
Rosie was a career homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rosie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land as well as the Naomi Circle of the United Methodist Women. In her retirement years, she began to paint with oils and was a member of the Southwest Area Artists and showed and sold paintings in various shows in the Houston Area. She will be greatly missed, adored, cherished, and looked up to by all that loved her and by those whose lives she touched.
Rosie was proceeded in death by husband Russell Wood and her son Thomas Edward Wood.
She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Campbell and her husband Gene of Abilene, Texas, her son Michael Dean Wood and his wife Cheri of Murchison, Texas as well as her daughter Linda Wood Porter and her husband Kelly of Meadows Place, Texas.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Tami Forrester, Michelle Wood, Kristin Wallman and her husband Michael, Casey Chateauvert and her husband Brian, Lauren Lem and her husband Nicholas, Charli Emery, Robert Wood, and Justin Porter. She is also survived by 5 ½ precious great grandchildren, Kamryn and Zackary Wallman, Jesse Emery, Corey Aviles, Bryson Lem and baby Lem who is due in a few days.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made in Rosie’s honor to the First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land or the Alzheimer’s Association.
