

Barbara Frances Cahill, 77, of Stafford, VA passed away on July 17, 2021. She was born on August 10, 1943 and grew up in Newark, NJ. She met her husband through friends in the spring of 1959 at Gruning’s, a popular ice-cream parlor in Montclair. They married in 1965.
Mrs. Cahill was an elementary school teacher before she had her children, teaching in Perth Amboy, NJ from 1965 to 1966, at the Quantico Marine Corps Base School from 1966 to 1968, and for Prince William County Public Schools from 1968 to 1975. As her children grew, she volunteered at their schools: St. Francis of Assisi School and Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School. She was also a member of the Police Wives Association.
Barbara loved travel and culture, and she was deeply dedicated to her family and her granddaughter. She was predeceased by her father, John Miller; her mother, Mary Albanese Miller; and her sister, Irene Miller Felber. She is survived by her husband, Donald Cahill; her daughter, Bridget Cahill McDonald; her son-in-law, Shawn McDonald; her granddaughter, Nora Rose McDonald; her son, Patrick Cahill; and her son-in-law, Hugo Simoes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road in Stafford from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 28, at the United States Marine Memorial Chapel, 3251 Embry Loop, Quantico, with a burial service at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road in Triangle. A reception will follow at the Globe and Laurel Restaurant, 4987 Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Academy in Newark, NJ.
