She was born on August 24, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Shiltutis) Giafaglione. She worked for CONTEL as a telephone operator for years and then was a bus attendant for Special Needs Children in Prince William County.
Barbara Anne Foster was the most loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend one could have. She loved her family and created a world of fun, joyfulness, security and warmth. Her house was always filled with aromas of food, particularly her spaghetti sauce. She loved her travels to include cruises, trips to the beach and beautiful rides into the mountains. Earlier years she loved ceramics and later loved shopping for antiques but her crochet was one of her favorite hobbies as she made blankets for the children and then the grandchildren. Growing up in Mom’s house brings lots of fabulous memories but the true memories were as we grew older and our relationships changed to friendship and respect. She became our coach, confidante and companion as we learned what a beautiful and fun person she was. We will miss Sunday dinner and penny poker days. Losing Mom will not be easy for any of us.
Her husband, Kenneth Ray Foster; son, Kenneth Joseph Foster; daughter, Lisa Marie Pemberton; and great granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Sumner preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence Foster married to Erlinda of Stafford, VA; one daughter, Bernadette Downham married to George Clark of Stafford, VA; six grandchildren, Kenneth Charles Foster, Rachel Nicole Simkins (spouse: Thomas Simkins), Melissa Sechrist (spouse: Justin Sechrist), Cera Harper, Phillip Pemberton and Rebecca Renee Bowers (spouse: James); five great grandchildren, Brendon Clark Downham, Cameron Rigg, Conner Harper, Eva Simkins, Kinslee Copenhaver.
