He was born March 14, 1942 in Raysal, West Virginia to the late Della and Gene Hite. Charles is survived by his wife, Darlene Hooker of King George, VA; his daughters, Deidre Willix (Rod) of Deland, FL and Keli Brown (Rocky) of King George, VA; his brother Ed Hooker (Doris) of GA; and his sister, Carol Hite-Smith of VA. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Aricka, Whitney, Jessica, Ryan, and Taryn; his great grandchildren, Autymn (His Princess), Austin, Alex, Dylan, Cydnie, Madison, Anthany, Kadance, Greysen, Baylynn, Kameron, Ella, and Olivia; his nephews, Butch, Chuck and Mike; and his honorary grandchild, Nichole Elliott. Charles served in the United States Air Force for 8 years and then the United States Army for 18 years. He was All-State at Iaeger High School and is in the McDowell City Sports Hall of Fame, excelling in football, basketball and track. He went to the University of Kentucky on scholarship for football but the military was his life. There will be a celebration of life at the home he built and was so proud of on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00pm. Please wear red/white/blue or anything camo because of his love for hunting would be an honor to him. If you would like to make a donation in his name please make it to Wounded Warriors or a Vietnam Veterans charity. The family would like to thank Mary Washington Hospice for their kind words and help during the last two weeks. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mullinsthompsonstafford.com for the Hooker family.
