MSgt. DeCarlous Mitchell Reid USMC (Ret.) of Stafford, VA was called home on June 21, 2020, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 27, 1964 in Goldsboro, NC the son of the late John Thomas Lanier, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Reid. He graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1982. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in which he faithfully served for 24 years
.
He was a loving and caring person, who enjoyed mentoring young Marines about education and life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara W. Reid, daughters, Carla M. Reid and Catherline E. Reid; his mother, Dorothy Mae Reid, sisters, Barbara Jean (Michael) Strickland, Patricia Reid, Angelene Reid Woody, Gwendolyn Putney, Janice Sumlin, Carolyn Lanier, Carrie Garrett; brother, Drs. Leander (Marilyn)Lanier ; and a host of other relative and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Catherline Mickens Reid Hodges; brothers Wayne Thomas Reid, James Lawrence Reid, Sr., Michael Anthony Reid, Reginald Dwight Reid, Robert Eugene Reid, Charles Lanier, and John T. Lanier, Jr.; and a host of other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in honor of MSgt. DeCarlous M. Reid (Ret.), to the Marine Corps Association and Foundation.
Funeral service will be held 11:30AM Monday, June 29, 2020 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford with Minister Dexter Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30AM prior to services. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
