Donald H. Bennett Jr.

Donald H. Bennett Jr., age 89, of Dale City, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He is survived by his son, William Bennett; his daughter, Karen Foster and husband Brian Foster; his granddaughters, Olivia and Sara Foster; his sister-in-law, Ursula Bennett; his niece, Jennifer Bennett-Augelli; and his nephew, Arthur Bennett III. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Marie Bennett; and his brother, Arthur Bennett II. He was born May 28, 1934 to the late Donald H. Bennett Sr. and Mary Matilda Bennett in Washington D.C. He grew up in Maine but moved to the Richmond area (Hopewell, Virginia) in his high school years and attended Hopewell Senior High School. In 1953 Donald joined the United States Army and earned his G.E.D in 1954 at USAFI (United States Armed Forces Institute) High School. In 1956 he attend Capitol Radio Engineering Institute, Washington, DC. From 1957-1980 Donald was employed with the Civil Service with HQ, USAINSCOM (US Army Intelligence and Security Command). For the next 3 years he was with the Civil Service with HQ, DARCOM (US Army Material Development & Readiness Command). He retired from government services in 1983. Donald married Florence Marie Gravitte in 1962 and they spent 55 beautiful years together. After retiring, Donald enjoyed computers and computer programing, amateur radio operations (K4NGC), compiling and maintaining a Bennett family genealogy, Big Band music (Glen Miller) and giving donations to Christian Charity’s. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; and he will be missed by all who knew him.
