I’m so sad that Aunt Elaine has passed away, and my heart feels heavy thinking that she’s gone. I keep finding myself smiling through the sadness as I remember just how much fun and laughter we always shared whenever we were lucky enough to be together.

Even though she lived in America, over the past 15–20 years we became so much closer through our video calls and the special visits we managed to have. I’ll always treasure our family trip to Disney — especially that amazing day we spent together at Epcot Centre, watching the fireworks side by side. It’s a memory I’ll hold onto forever.

Some of my favourite memories are the ones that still make me laugh out loud — like planking on a police car at Walmart, something only Elaine could make feel completely normal and hilarious. And the morning we went to a church service in Orlando, just the two of us, which felt so simple but so special at the same time.

I loved hearing all about her adventures and travel stories. Her heart always belonged in Scotland, but her love of travel and her sense of adventure were things I admired so much. She truly lived life fully.

I’ll never forget the family wedding in Minneapolis, when we sat for hours laughing, talking about the stock market, putting the world to rights, and sharing stories and memories that felt like they could go on forever.

I will miss you so much, Aunt Elaine. I was so lucky to be your niece, and I’ll carry all those laughs, stories, and memories with me always.

Im deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Elaine.
Elaine was not only my sister in law she was also my friend. 
I first met Elaine 50 years ago when she returned home to Scotland  from Swaziland for Christmas. We both instantly became fiends, sharing many happy times together,  especially when she decided to you join us in Florida for a family holiday, a holiday full of fun & laughter.

 Every  Christmas without fail Elaine would  send over a box of goodies containing the best homemade shortbread that only she could make, also included in the box were a selection of other home made cakes  & some hand made crafts that she had made.

Elaine was truly a very kind, loyal & loving person, one that I’m going to miss deeply.

Elaine was our neigbhor for the past decade. I met her not long after moving in while on a walk with my kids. We stopped to pet Fergus and soon began chatting about gardening, and then yarn and felting.   Seeing Elaine about the neighborhood and getting to speak with her was always a joy as we loved to chat about our current crafting projects and plans for our gardens. She was a bright and happy person who will be greatly missed in our neighborhood community. Our deepest condolances to her family during this time.

Elaine grew up with us in Scotland, during a time when family lived close and shared everything. Those early years mattered, and she carried those memories with her all her life.

She was especially close to my dad. They talked often, and when he was in the hospital for the last time, she stayed on the phone with him all night, talking about life in Scotland and old times.

Elaine leaves behind her husband, Lou, whom she deeply loved. They built a life together shaped by shared challenges and adventures, and relied on each other in a way that created a strong and lasting bond.

Elaine loved her family deeply. Her brother Clarke, and her parents Rita and Neil, passed before her, but she carried them with her always. She also leaves behind her loving  sister-in-law Karen Boon, nephew Ryan Boon and niece Katrina Boon. 

Elaine was one of the last people who truly shared that part of my childhood. With her gone, it feels like the end of a chapter, not just losing her, but losing someone who remembered where I came from.  She will be greatly missed  and I will cherish her always.
