We have fond memories of Gordy as a congenial member of the Lions and--this is a while back--as a square dancer. Our sympathies to the family.

There are so many wonderful memories I have about my G'pa:

Always having double bubble gum in your pocket.

Taking us for haircuts and getting buzz cuts.

Going to the Donut shop and then playing Pacman Arcade.

Playing Cards and playing for Nutty Buddy Ice Cream Bars /Slim Jims/ Pretzels (smoking like it was a cigar).

Taking us out to Horn and Horn restaurant.  I remember you let Dave eat ice cream before he ate his dinner one time.
 
Taking me to my baseball games.

New York trips in your van.

Those big thick sunglasses you wore…and being your co-pilot.

Going to Church.

Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner.

Fishing/ Lake of the Woods.

Candy Dish/ Fruit basket you and G'ma had out.

Myrtle Beach which I have more memories at that place then you'll ever know (morning walks on the beach and breakfast at Toppers…I did the same tradition with Tyler and Owen this year, see picture)

and so many more memories I hold deep to my heart...

What an incredible man you are and will deeply miss you!

Today I got to hear from your daughter how u played cards with the boys for hours at the beach. Before I've heard from David how funny you were and always made them laugh. You sound like you were an amazing grandfather and father. My heart aches for the Westgate family at this time, but at least they have those special memories to always keep in their hearts. My prayers and deepest sympathy are with the Westgate family.

Remember Dad, all the good times we had at Myrtle Beach.  You teaching the boys how to play poker for candy and ice cream. Showing the boys how much you loved squirrels (haha). You were the best dad ever. I don't have enough paper to write how much you meant to us.  We love you always.

Love you Grandpa and will miss you. I know your at peace, and now get to enjoy time with your other Grandchildren in heaven..  Thanks for being such a wonderful Grandfather. Dave, Todd, and I have so many happy memories of you...  Love you...

My wife and I are very sorry for the Westgate's family loss.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I met Gordon when he married my sister Phyllis.  When she died of cancer five years ago, he came to live with my husband Wendell and me. Wendell adored Gordon and they both looked forward to sharing a drink and each other's company at the end of the day.   During his five years with us, he enjoyed the company of hundreds of patrons who visited our store and ice cream shop and made many good friends who will dearly miss him.  Gordon loved to spend time with his niece Isabella Brown, and nephews Sammy and Gabe Leroux, and his presence was always a joy to them.  Gordon was and always will be a dear member of our family.  Sadly, Wendell died just one week before Gordon passed.  I hope that somewhere they are together enjoying a VO and Coke and that they know how much they were loved and how much they will really be missed.

It was a privilege and honor to have Gordon as a member of our family.  He taught us a lot about life, not only in a general sense but on a personal level.  It was always good to sit and listen to the stories that he would tell about his life, as an Army office in three wars and as a man that lived through over nine decades of change.  The dates may change, but the lessons that he passed on remain true.  He was a good man to sit with, share a drink and laugh at a joke or story.  Gordon was a good American and an fine example of the caliber of person that existed a few generations ago.  We cherish the time we were fortunate enough to spend with him and will keep him always in our hearts.

I will always love my uncle Gordon, I thank god  for giving me the opportunity know him and for the wonderful times our family had to spend with him.  He truley was a remarkable individual.
