Colonel James (Jim) D. Hannigan (April 3, 1980-June 4,2025) son of James (Jim) and Margaret (Peg), was a Christian, a devoted husband, father, and soldier, passed away desiring most that Christ Jesus be glorified in both his life and death.
Jim was known for his profound spiritual convictions. A man of deep and abiding faith, he believed the only way to salvation was through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. He was deeply invested in his church community and led by example in both word and action. His passion for mentorship and ministry led him to establish a TBS (The Basic School) ministry, where he poured into the lives of young Marines and their families—offering them guidance, encouragement, and Biblical grounding during critical stages of development as an officer.
Jim served honorably in the United States Army for over 25 years, both stateside and abroad, rising to the esteemed rank of Colonel. His military career was marked not only by dedication and leadership, but also by the deep respect he earned from those who served under him and alongside him. He exemplified the highest values of service and sacrifice.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Anna Hannigan, and their six children—Talitha (12), Solomon (11), James (10), Lydia (8), Phoebe (6), and Philip (6)—It was his continual prayer that his children would come to a joyous relationship with their Savior.
Jim is also lovingly cherished by his brother, Patrick (Pat) Hannigan and Pat’s wife Michelle, along with their children Kailey, Ryan, Ellie, and Danny (Daniel James, named in honor of Jim); his sister, Catherine (Katie) Hannigan and his godparents, Thomas (Tom) and Therese Dubelbeis.
A man of honor in all aspects of life, James D. Hannigan will be remembered not only for his exemplary military service, but for his unshakable convictions, leadership, and the countless lives he touched. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his church, the young men he mentored, and all who had the privilege to know him. Glory to God!
