He was born the youngest of three boys in Columbia, Missouri, to the late Robert and Elsa Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Robin; son, John Smith, Jr.; two daughters, Laura Brooks and Chelsea Smith; brother, Thomas Smith; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Smith.
John will be most remembered for his open and loving nature. He always knew how to put a smile on your face through his sense of humor and welcoming personality. Family and friends will always remember his love of darts and Coors Light.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. For those who choose, a sharing of memories, laughs, and words of comfort will commence at 1:30 p.m. An inurnment will follow at a later date.
