Obituary of Lore Bachert
Lore Anna Bachert was born on June 3, 1929 to Samuel and Sofie Trost in Frickenhausen, Germany. She had six brothers and one sister. She worked as a seamstress in Germany. Times were hard, especially during World War 2, but they had love and they knew God. In 1951 she met and married Mathias Bachert. The two were madly in love with one another and over the next fourteen years they had six children: Gerhardt “Jerry”, Inge, Hans “John”, Roland “Roy”, Manfred “Fred”, and Nancy. In 1957, Mathias, Lore, Jerry, Inge, and John moved to Canada where Roy and Freddy were born. When they came to the US they lived in California and Virginia where Nancy was born. As the children grew, Lore was blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, Christina Bachert Hall (Jeremy), Dawn McPherson McDonald (Robert), and Lexis Crawford Francis (Jack) and one grandson, Brian. In turn she was blessed with six great grandchildren, with one precious angel on the way, as well as three great-great grandchildren. When her husband passed away in 1982 she transitioned from stay at home mom to cook at Zum Rheingarten until it closed and then she worked as a cold plate chef at Ikea in Woodbridge. She was a hard worker who earned many awards and made a great many friends who have gone on before her. She was Lexi’s babysitter from the time she was born until she turned five and went to kindergarten. Lore was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and occasionally went to a Baptist Church with friends for many years, but she quit driving in 2012 and the friends who drove her to church were no longer able to take her. She began watching church on TV on Sundays and she prayed for those she loved every day. She loved taking and looking at pictures as well as crocheting. Her home is filled with pillows, blankets, and various other things that she made when she was younger. Her children enjoyed asking her to make things for each other, like chair and car seat covers. Her family feared that she would begin making covers for other things, like the refrigerator, once she ran out of room everywhere else. On February 22, 2024, Lore came home on hospice with a few days to a week to live. She was cared for by her family who trusted doctors to know something like that, especially considering she was 94 and it was already a miracle that she was still here. She spoke of her 95th birthday often, but many didn’t think she would get to see it. Lore turned 95 surrounded by her family and was able to speak with those in Germany and Canada. She passed away peacefully one week later on June 10, 2024. She is survived by her sons, Jerry, and Freddie (Aixa); and her daughters, Inge and Nancy (Randy). Her four grandchildren and their spouses, six great grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great grandchildren. As well as her sister, Erica, and her brother, Emil, who both live in Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathias; her sons, John and Roy; daughter-in-laws, Kathy (Jerry) and Charlotte (John); and her son-in-law, Larry (Inge). As well as five of her brothers, Theophil, Samuel, Tobias, Oskar, and Eduard.
