He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired fire fighter from the New York City Fire Department.
He is survived by his children, Robert Cox, Jr. of Stafford, Sharon Pope of Charleston, SC and Robin Pope of New York City; four grandchildren, Shawnti Cox, Robert D. Cox, Shamara Cox and Sinia Cox.
A funeral service will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11th, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
