So sorry to hear that Robert passed away. We were next door neighbors and grew up together in St. Albans. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Robert was a big brother to my lifelong friend, Paul Dayfield and although I was somewhat afraid of him as a young person, I learned to like and admire him.  I remember becoming a friend with Robert when he and Peti settled down on Briar Street in St. Albans.

As I told Paul, he was actually in my thoughts as recently as yesterday.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and he will be missed.

I will always remember Robert as the little guy at Hansford Grade School.  I am so happy that I was able to chat with him at our 50th reunion. Love and prayers to David  and Robert's family.   Brenda Clark Lee

I am so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. I too, have fond memories of him; not as a teacher, but as an outstanding, true, loyal and honest colleague of my father. As seen here, many are better for having had Robert in their lives. He did God's will and now may Robert rest in eternal peace knowing this.

My condolences to Robert's family. Although it has been years since I last saw my high school classmate, I will always remember Rob as a joy to be around.

I had Mr. Dayfield for a couple of science classes back in high school.  I was never a big science person, so I didn't always enjoy the subject matter, but I always enjoyed the teacher. He was one of my favorites, especially to visit outside of class, because he was so lighthearted and funny that he always brightened the mood of everyone he talked to.  He will be impossible to replace.

Robert, you will be deeply missed by all of your family here in Oregon.

Mr. Dayfield was my biology teacher at Stafford. He was one of my favorite teachers. He always made me laugh. I will never forget that one day he gave me a gift...it was the largest rock I had ever seen...he called it a nail file. I kept it for many years just because I thought it was so funny. He had a great sense of humor. The last time that I saw him I was teaching at Margaret Brent elementary and Hallie was in the class next to mine in 4th grade. It was great to see him again. I remember talking with Bobby about a Stephen Hawkins book.  Bobby was worried about the amount of matter in black holes.  I was worried about lunch.  Bobby was always on a higher plain than the rest of us.  I will miss him.

Dear Pat and Family,
  I never got to meet Rob, except in passing, but I feel like I know exactly the kind of man he was by talking to you and Haley over the years. The many tributes of his former students give testament to his career as an exemplary teacher who inspired many. His dedication to Pat, in acts great and small, showed him to be a kind and loving husband. Haley always spoke about the adventures she had with Rob and what a doting grandfather she had. I know he will surely be missed by all who knew him. I believe that God will surround you with many people who can support you during this time of grief. May his soul forever rest in peace. I so enjoyed working with Robert at Stafford High School.  We had so many wonderful conversations, especially after school.  He was always so kind to me; willing to help me at the drop of a hat.  He included me always in any event that was planned, which I so appreciated, because it helped me to feel that I was part of a family at SHS, not just another work place.  He really enjoyed the students & being a teacher.  I was greatly influenced by his kind and caring nature.  I sure have missed him since he retired & I moved to Alaska.  It is sad to know that he is no longer here with us.  My prayers go out to his family, friends, co-workers, prior students, & any who may have been blessed with his presence.   May his soul now rest in peace.  God Bless you, Robert.

Robert and Ronnie Petitt seemed joined at the hip during our teenage years.  Through Ronnie's friendship, I inherited Robert's, too.  No one in my life ever made me laugh the way Robert did.  Most mundane things out of other people's mouths came out of Robert as hilarious.  No one could be around that guy without smiling or most times laughing uncontrollably.  He was a joy.

Through Ronnie, I know that Robert loved Peti and his family beyond measure.  May God wrap His Arms around each one of Robert's family members and grant peace that passes understanding through this time of grief.

To the family of Mr. Dayfield,
I am so sorry for your lose. Mr. Dayfield was certainly a one of kind person and will be missed by many! My daughter Lauren Pettengill had Mr. Dayfield while attending SHS. She never stopped talking about him!! She respected him and enjoyed his classes very much. God Bless You and Comfort you in this difficult time.

Mr. Dayfield was a wonderful teacher, one of my very favorites!  With his sense of humor, he made learning fun, and challenged us at the same time. As I have read the guest book entries, it is so apparent that Robert had a lasting infuluence on the lives of the students that passed through his classrooms.  What greater tribute could a teacher ask for?

I met Robert in his seventeenth summer.  A wild boy with white blond hair who quoted poetry and knew all the constellations.  He had a deep laugh and was always plotting adventures, usually dangerous to those involved.  I send peace to his family and friends who shared his life.

I cant picture my high school memories without Mr.Dayfield. He was such a fun and great teacher. He was very only with the students and frinedly. Super funny wit about him which made Biology fun. He will truly be missed.

Mr. Dayfield was a true joy of a human being. He had a singular intellect and instilled a love of nature and of learning in his students. He taught me many lessons about love and life, and made me think every day. His devotion to his wife, and to his students, was apparent at every turn. He was truly one of a kind. I am so sad to hear of Mr. Dayfield's passing. He was one of my very favorite teachers in high school. He certainly made a lasting impression on me and he made learning fun. He always wore a smile and I adored his goofy sense of humor each day! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him! My condolences to the family!

Mr. Dayfield was a wonderful teacher who always knew how to make people smile. I'm honored to have met him and send my prayers to his family during these difficult times.

My brother and friend Robert Dayfield has passed on, leaving a beautiful family and a lifelong companion, wife and friend.

Peti, although hard to feel it with grief all around, you are surrounded by many loving arms.  You must let these arms embrace and support you while you travel the grieving process.

Although seperated geographically for many years, Robert and I grew closer and closer as the years passed.  I am a better person today than I would have been if we had not maintained our ties with you and Robert.

Robert Jr., every time I asked about you and your family, your Dad made sure to let me know how very proud he was of you.  So now, you become the living legacy of your father and my brother.  Distances between us must not become an excuse for not being in close touch.

Rob was a life-long friend and my roommate our first semester of college.  His scientific mind and sense of humor will remain with me forever.  My condolences to the family on the loss of their husband, father, grandfather and brother.

My condolences to the family. As one of my teachers he definitely made a positive impact on my life and am happy to have had the opportunity to learn from him.

I am so sad to hear of Mr. Dayfield's passing. He was a great teacher, I had him for two classes in high school and he was definitely one of my very favorite teachers of all. Mr. Dayfield truly cared for his students. He made class fun and challenged us to think out of the box.  He used to have us read articles in our Dual Enrollment class, which is where I was introduced to the world of catfish noodling. Who knew that 10 years later, there would be a hit TV show about it! He opened our eyes to new worlds as he arranged experiments and field trips and really got us excited about biology. He had a funny sense of humor that I remember to this day. My heart goes out to his family members. You will always be remembered Mr. Dayfield!  That is the thing about being a teacher, you touch so many lives and will always be remembered by your students.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat and her family during this time of grief.  Rob was a fine person and a wonderful teacher.
