She was born on April 15, 1957, in Norwood, Massachusetts to the late Gerald and Lorraine (Carr) Smith and proudly grew up in the Canal Zone in Panama.
Sheryl had a heart full of love all her life. She and her husband Luke met in Pensacola, Florida and were true, inseparable soulmates for 42 wonderful years. A man never had a better wife, and her two beautiful daughters Nikki and Tina could not have had a better mom. She was adored by her two sons-in-law Edward and Josh, and her three beautiful granddaughters Avery, Lacey and Scottie, who made her heart and spirit soar. There was no pretension in her soul. She loved her life, laughed easily, and gave all her heart to family and friends. The feeling of new love between her and Luke never faded from the time they met.
Sheryl ran soccer camps in Stafford and worked with special needs children in the Stafford school system. She loved the children and took each of them into her heart. Her family called her the whisperer as animals and children gravitated to her sensing her loving soul. For 30 years, she was a rabid Washington Capitals fan. She also loved to cruise. Her father was a pilot on the Panama Canal, which gave her a lifelong love of the tropics and the sea. She appreciated all of life’s blessings. Sheryl was truly a special person: her radiant smile was infectious and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband Luke Danciu, two daughters: Nicole Day (Edward) and Christina Moser (Josh); two brothers: Steven Smith and Stuart Smith (Dana); two sisters: Sharon Kearley and Susan Hamner (Craig); three grandchildren: Avery, Lacey and Scottie Moser; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
