Teresa was a hardworking, feisty woman, full of life and laughter. Her spirit was contagious, touching everyone she met, and her legacy lives on through the countless lives she influenced during her years as a phenomenal educator. Teresa held a Master of Arts in Education and was deeply passionate about teaching children. Her favorite grade to teach was kindergarten, as she believed the foundation of learning was built during those tender years. Throughout her illustrious career, she taught at all levels from kindergarten to university, leaving a lasting impact on her students.
Born and raised in Cuba, Teresa was formally trained at the Music Conservatory in La Havana, Cuba, and was an accomplished piano and keyboard player. Her music reflected her vibrant spirit and rich Cuban heritage. She was also an amazing cook whose food nourished the soul and brought people together. Teresa was always there for the less fortunate, with a heart as immense as her willingness to help those in need. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and she brought joy and comfort to many during their times of need. She loved animals deeply and treated all living beings with compassion.
Teresa will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. Let us remember her for the joy, love, cooking, and music she brought into our lives, and for the wisdom she shared throughout her remarkable journey.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Pedro Lopez, and her mother, Onelia Estrada. She is survived by her son, Jaime Chapeau (Connie); her daughters, Teresa Alvarez-Viruet (Manuel) and Jeanette Hernandez-Guilleaume; and her cherished grandchildren, Damien Chapeau, Jean Chapeau, Cherilyn Viruet, Sully Viruet, Jasmine Guilleaume, Genesis Gonzales, Kali Hitchko, Virianna Hitchko, and Callen Hitchko.
