He was born on August 6, 1934 in Post, Texas the son of John E. and Bessy Mae (Clevenger) Thomas. He was a retired iron worker for Local Union #5 in Washington, DC.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leland Steve Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Thomas; one son, Barry R. Thomas and wife Karla of Poolesville, MD; one daughter, Vanda M. Danielsen and husband Jeff of Lynch Station, VA; five grandchildren, Erin Thomas, Tonya Collins, Michelle Hong, Lauren Thomas, Ashley Balchik; five great grandchildren, Ace Collins, Summer Collins, Kane Collins, Madison Collins, Maxwell Thomas, Jakob Hong.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA where a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. John Hodgen officiating. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
