

He was born on April 9th, 1930 to Samuel and Alice Bauckman of Stafford as one of five children; two brothers, two sisters.
Vernon attended Occoquan High School until his graduation in 1947.
In the spirit of American patriotism, he served his country in the United States Marine Corp until 1952.
In the spirit of American industry, he spent many years working for the Coca Cola Company and Anheuser Busch; experiences that imparted lessons he carried for the rest of his life.
In the spirit of American entrepreneurship he opened his own restaurant, Charlie Brown's, in Woodbridge, VA on July 19th, 1980.
He had a great love for sports; Washington football and Duke basketball in particular.
His passion for antiques and the world of yesteryear led him to become a connoisseur in the fields of glassware and brewriana, curating an immense collection over his lifetime.
In his later years he was a frequent presence at his son Tim's restaurants where he came together with old friends and made many new ones.
He was larger-than-life, but simple at heart. Wherever life took him, he was never far from his roots and the ones he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Alice Bauckman; his siblings, Samuel Bauckman, William Bauckman, Jaquelyn Bauckman Payne, and Mary-Jean Lambert; and his daughter, Cynthia McCloskey [Michael McCloskey].
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Tierney [Paul Tierney]; and his son, Timothy Bauckman [Jamie Bauckman].
He is also survived by:
Ten grandchildren; Rhonda Hirai, Carmine Suga, Michael McCloskey, Theodore McCloskey, Drew Mowat, Kaeryn Tierney, Hatteras Tierney, Brittany Tyrell, Bailey Bauckman, and Bryce Bauckman.
Nine great-grandchildren, Daniella Hirai, Iris Meyers, Kayden Suga, Caleb Suga, Michael McCloskey, Gabe McCloskey, Gannon Lattimore, Harper Tyrrell, and Hayes Tyrrell; and his great-great grandson, Haruki Dolan.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm at Mullin's and Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, VA 22554
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm followed by a graveside service at 2 pm at the adjacent cemetery.
Friends may join Family at Tim's 2 Fairview afterwards to celebrate his life.
