William W. Ferguson, Sr. was born January 10, 1929 and passed away on January 25, 2019 peacefully in Meadowview, Virginia surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.
William was in the U.S Navy from 1950 to 1954. He served aboard two aircraft carriers. He received an honorable discharge. He retired from Western Electric. He was a distinguished leader and former commissioner with the Boy Scouts of America with over 50 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter Brenda Motley; sons William W. Ferguson Jr. (Tina), Wade D. Ferguson (Darlene), Rick Ferguson (Tina), and John Ferguson (Mary); a special nephew Robert McKenny and daughter-in-law Michelle Ferguson; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; brother Arthur Ferguson and sister Hilda Booth. William is also survived by 3 step sons, Robert, Duwayne and Kenneth Willis, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and many other extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, three wives, infant son, a brother and a sister.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 12:00 pm, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
