He was born June 23, 1923 in Buenos Aires Argentina, the son of Alfredo Sanguinetti and Rosa Guerrieri.
Alfredo married Adelina Balestrieri in 1952 and had two sons, Nestor and Claudio.
Alfredo worked as a photographer in Argentina but his true love was wrestling, he was good enough to win national titles and participate in the 1948 London Olympics and coach the 1958 Chicago Pan American wrestling team.
Alfredo moved to Stamford, CT in 1962 and lived there most of his life, mostly in The Cove. He had to be near the water due to his love of swimming especially long distances at Cove Beach. He worked at Branson & Emerson Ultrasonics from 1965 until the age of 87 in 2010. He loved watching his kids and grandchildren play sports and tried never to miss a game even if it meant traveling around the country.
Alfredo loved classical music, reading, bicycling, swimming, The YMCA a member from 1962-2020, lately watching old movies and TV shows, and seeing his great-grandchildren play. He exercised all his life, he would say longevity was living a clean life, exercise and one glass of wine every night.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, three brothers and his wife. Surviving are his son Nestor and his wife Barbara of Chapin, SC; son Claudio of Chapin, SC; five grandchildren, Nicholas Sanguinetti and his wife Ashley from Milford, CT, Diana and her husband Wayne Alexander from Chapin, SC, Jason Goodhue from Washington State, Alex Sanguinetti and his wife Monika from Williamsburg, VA, Allegra Calderaro from Norwalk, CT and five great-grandchildren Adelina, Isa, Luli, Nicholas and Luca.
Friends are invited to calling hours 4:00 - 8:00pm on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St, Stamford, CT.
Interment will be the following day at 10:00am Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St John’s Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave, Darien, CT.
