Born in Grange Hill, in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies, she was the daughter of Albert Smith and Dorcas Hill. She attended Church Hill All Age School in Santoy, Hanover. She was a homemaker who was a gifted cook and baker, well known for her extensively decorated fruit cakes. She had a deep love for her family and friends. A devoted Christian she was a member of Union Baptist Church on Newfield Avenue, Stamford.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tomlin Hooper and children Errol (Loyatia), Yvette (the late Franklin), Telford (Frances), Roland, Brenda (Frank), Almarie, Lanine (Nathaniel), stepdaughters Christine and Veronica, grandchildren: Tomlin, King, Olivia, Shykedia, Kyce, Ashley, Danyella, Novlette, Claudine, Althea, Ricardo, Imran, Christopher, Errol Jr., Reshari, Jayden, Janine, Teresa, 13 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Carl, and her brother Alan.
Friends are invited to attend the viewing at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 12. Memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date in Grange Hill, Jamaica, West Indies.
