Born in Willimantic Connecticut, she was the daughter of Christine and Robert Gardner. She graduated from Stamford High School. She was employed at Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin and Kuriansky and worked as a paralegal for many years.
Carol was a remarkable woman, known for her boundless energy and dedication. As a single mother, she worked multiple jobs while raising her two daughters. Throughout her life, she found joy in teaching hundreds of children to swim and leading aqua aerobics at the Norwalk YMCA. This work gave her immense fulfillment.
Carol was famous for her homemade pumpkin bread, potato salad, chili, and Christmas cookies, recipes she has passed down with love to her daughter Donna, her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. A lifelong Giants and Yankee fan, she enjoyed all types of music, concerts, swimming, running and shopping-especially on Black Friday. She adored Easter egg hunts and holidays spent with family. And through it all, her granddog Lucy brought endless smiles as they played and snuggled together.
Carol will be forever remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her love of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Bauer and son-in-law John Alcock of Danbury, her granddaughter Cristin Wright and two great-grand children, Isabella and JJ whom she absolutely loved and adored. Extended family includes a sister-in-law (more like a sister), brother-in-law, nephews and nieces as well as many grand nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Corrine Wright of Danbury.
There will be a private service for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Wounded Warrior Project.
