

Edward Patrick Fitzgerald, formerly of Stamford Connecticut, Vero Beach and Spring Hill, Florida and most recently of Moss Creek Plantation, SC passed away peacefully on July, 1st, 2012 at his home after a lengthy illness, at age 88. A World War II veteran, he was a Purple Heart Recipient. Ed became a mechanical engineer, rising to International Chief of Operation for his employer, Dorr Oliver. Ed and his wife Marie spent over 55 years living life and each other while raising a family of 6 children and then retiring to Florida, where they enjoyed golf, tennis and socializing with friends. A quiet man by nature, his generosity to family spoke volumes. We rejoice in his peace and celebrate his life. Dad, you're always in our hearts. He is survived by his children, Barb and Tom Tomlin, Paul and Dru Fitzgerald, Pat and Jon Voelker, Kathy and Joe Lorenti, Rob Fitzgerald, Karen and Jeff Miller, and grandchildren, Jeff, LauraLee Tim, Caitlin, Devin, Andy, Kathryn, Morgan, Courtney, Colby and Kylie. Visitation will be held at The Island Funeral Home, 4 Cardinal Road, Thursday, July 5 from 5 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 6 at 11 am at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
