Julie Epstein of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 after a fierce battle with cancer. She was born in Stamford, Connecticut on December 25, 1955 to the late Paula and Sidney Epstein.
Julie graduated from Union College in 1977 with a degree in psychology. She joined the National United Jewish Appeal immediately after graduation to further her commitment to Israel and Jewish life after being inspired by her professor, Stephen Berk.
Julie later pursued a career in real estate and subsequently became a principal in a government bond brokerage while she adapted to living with multiple sclerosis.
Julie’s philosophy of giving and caring evidenced itself in her longstanding and generous support of political candidates (Democratic) and just causes including, but by no means limited to: religious freedom, racial justice, gun control, reproductive rights and ending hunger. But, as important as these commitments were, they paled in comparison to Julie’s devotion to her family. Nothing was more enjoyable for her than the time she spent with them.
Julie was endlessly attentive, enthusiastic and supportive of those she loved, and there were many she loved. Affectionately nicknamed 'Pollyanna,' Julie was the consummate optimist. Her joy and energy were unmatched — except possibly by the many dogs she and Debbie were devoted to over the years. Her final months of life were a whirlwind of incoming affection, a testament to the immensity with which she loved.
Julie is survived by her nieces and nephew: Sara Bromley Seide (Steve), Matthew Bromley (Elizabeth) and Melissa Bromley (Michael McDonough); their children, Sid, Micah, Sam and Elijah; her dearest friend, Deborah Chodrow; and her sister, Ellen Bromley (Tom Gizicki) who will miss her forever.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17th at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford, Connecticut. The family will observe shiva at the home of Ellen and Tom from Tuesday after the funeral through Friday evening.
