She felt joy in the company of her friends, neighbors, and on long walks with her sister Susan. Yolanda spent her lifetime in Middletown CT, yet her imagination took her places including a dream to be a screenwriter inspired by winning a writing contest for a play called “To Broadway” sponsored by Wesleyan University. Admired for her confident “artistic” self-view especially in confronting difficult challenges, Yolanda retained her gift of an outgoing spirit all her days.
She is survived by her niece, Stasia Thorpe Pasela of NYC and preceded by her younger sisters Susan, Georgiana, and her parents Eleanor and George W. Thorpe.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the National Alliance of Mental Health of CT, 860-882-0236 or another meaningful organization. (https://namict.networkforgood.com/projects/90736-namiconnecticutgive)
