Allan Morris Davenport, Sr., age 83, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Summit Place in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. He retired after 42 years from sales at American & Efird. Allan was a member of Lowell Presbyterian Church and he served his Country Honorably in the United States Army.
Allan was an avid golfer and loved working in his yard. Of all of Allan's accomplishments in his life, he will be best remembered as a great father, father in law, grandfather and friend to all.
Those left behind to cherish Allan's memories and carry on his legacy are his son and daughter in law: Joseph "Joe" and Ann Davenport of Dallas, North Carolina and two granddaughters: Hannah Huggins, Lexie Wess and husband Aaron; son: Allan Davenport, Jr; two sisters: Barbara Craig and Nancy McIntosh both of Mount Holly, North Carolina; his beloved dog "Rebekah"; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Allan was the son of the late George Anderson Davenport and Jewel Virginia Morris Davenport. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 52 wonderful years, Vivian Andrews Davenport who passed away in 2006 and second wife Ira Kay Davenport.
A Life Well Celebrated service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018 in the Chapel of
Carothers Funeral Home, 212 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina 28164 with Dr. Joseph Tabor.
Graveside and committal service with Military Honors accorded by the Gaston County Honor Guard and the United States Army will follow in the Dogwood Garden at Hillcrest Gardens, 1509 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, Mount Holly, North Carolina 28120.
The family will receive guests from 1:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.
