Linda was born on September 13, 1949, in Vemilion Co., Illinois to the late Clyde Allen Tyler and Juanita Elizabeth Drews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Jim" Goodwin, and her brother, William "Bill" Tyler.
Linda spent 38 years doing what she loved most—teaching. She served students in Spartanburg, Charlotte‑Mecklenburg, and North Canton City Schools, always bringing patience, dedication, and a genuine love for learning into her classroom. While living in Ohio, she was an active member of Faith Family Church until 2021, when she moved to North Carolina. Linda enjoyed an active, fulfilling life. She hiked numerous state parks with her hiking group, loved golfing and gardening, and often visited the Y to relax and recharge. She approached life with energy, curiosity, and a warm spirit that touched everyone around her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she shaped—both in and beyond the classroom.
Linda is survived by her Niece, Christine "Christy" Corder (Heath) and their daughter, Autumn; nephew, Robert "Bobby" Tyler and his two daughters, Alexis Tyler Robinson (Nathan) and Cayleigh Tyler; step-niece, Brenda Hoskinson; sister-in-law, Joy Tyler; as well as her honorary sister, Libby Holman (Lee).
A Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, 7400 Mt Holly Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214. A Celebration of Life for Linda will follow at 11:00 am at Paw Creek Presbyterian.
