Perry graduated from Clemson University in 1957 and pursued his vocation as a design engineer in the field of aerospace with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Palm Beach County FL. During his career he patented several designs for high powered engine components, then retired in his mid-fifties. Following his professional career he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for several years.
He was a devoted husband to his lifelong love Dossie, and wonderful father to his sons Greg and Ken, faithful to his church and his friends. He served in his church choir and in several other roles, almost all behind the scenes. He enjoyed working on his own cars and building electronics equipment. He loved spending time with his family. He was highly supportive of the various athletic, musical, and artistic pursuits of his sons.
Through his industrious efforts he put himself through college. While he was in his forties he designed and built a house for his aging parents in Lowesville NC on the Sifford farm property which is today The Gates at Waterside. Through his sacrificial approach to life he always looked out for the best interests of others, putting his sons through college as well as his four grandchildren. He was beloved by his four great grandchildren. Through his life he had a significant impact of blessing five generations.
He is predeceased by his parents Luther Pinkney Sifford Jr and Janie Louise Sifford, and his brother Dennis Delano Sifford.
He is survived by his loving wife Dossie Sifford, his sons Greg (Duwan) and Ken (Shirley), his grandchildren Jessica Knuff (Chris), Alan Sifford (Jessica), James Sifford (Taylor), and Matt Sifford, and his great grandchildren Jaelyn, Gabriel, Wesley, and Khloe.
