Thomas Ray Burnette, 72, of Dallas, died on November 19, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Tommy was born on June 2, 1949 in Catawba County and was the son of the late Harold W. Burnette and Clara Ledbetter Burnette.
Tommy worked at Wix Corporation for 38 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing, hunting, and being outdoors because he felt closest to the Lord there. Tommy enjoyed watching golf, racing, listening to music and playing poker. He also enjoyed watching basketball and football, and he always pulled for Carolina. Tommy loved feeding and watching deer and the squirrels. Most of all he loved his family and fishing with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brothers, David Burnette and Billy Burnette, and his son Johnny Branham.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Jenkins Burnette; daughters, Tammy and husband Michael Laughlin, and Tonya Branham; grandchildren, Jessica and husband Jay, Casey, Ricci, Maleah and Ty, Kenzie and Will; great grandchildren, Spencer, Skylen and Ellieanna; brothers, Larry Burnette and wife Mary, Jerry Burnette and wife Retha; sisters, Pearla Hall, Betty Burnette and Linda Burnette; special boys, Inman and Corbin; special friends, Duane Clark, Eric and Krista Parker, and dog Blue.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM in the Brevard Room at Carothers Funeral Home Stanley. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
