He was born in Brooklyn, the only child of the late Clas & Blanche (nee Westlund) Eriksson.
He attended McKee High School. In his youth he belonged to a Civil War Re-enactment group and went on many skirmishes.
He worked at various jobs before working at Historic Richmondtown where he became an accomplished, self learned, blacksmith. He made all the house hardware for all the houses at Richmondtown, including the weathervane on the Old County Courthouse.
Some of his other work can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Customs House in St.Croix, (Tallahassee), the capital of Florida, the Old Village of Bethpage, L.I. and also did work for many private individuals, etc.
He loved to work on his 1974 green Land-Rover and was a known tinkerer and inventor.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 59 years Margaret (nee Brown). He is also survived by 2 loving children,a son Albert Jr & Tammy Eriksson, and a daughter Sonja & Gary Bushey, six grandchildren, Kevin (Amie), Matthew (Whitney), Alyssa (Walt), Christopher (Abby), Anastasia & Kimberley.
Two great-grandchildren Blake & Kinsley.Two dear friends Harry Anagnostis & Debra Romano, also his 2 cats Midnight & Job.
A celebration of his life will be at Calvary Assembly of God, 4055 Richmond Ave., Eltingville, on Thursday evening, July 11, at 7:30pm.
Arrangements and Cremation are being handled by Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home in Great Kills.
In lieu of flowers donations to Calvary Assembly of God Church or your favorite charity would be appreciated.
