Born in 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Anne was raised in Brooklyn and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. In 1963, Anne married the love of her life, Jack Murphy. Together they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Anne’s greatest joy was her family—her husband, children, and especially her seven grandchildren, all of whom she affectionately called her “babies.” She also found great joy in crocheting for her loved ones, each stitch a reflection of the love and connection that bound her family together.
After starting a family, Anne returned to school at the College of Staten Island, where she earned her degree in Nursing. She went on to have a fulfilling 25-year career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Staten Island Hospital, where she helped bring countless babies into the world and touched the lives of many families in her community.
Anne was devoted to her faith and was a longtime parishioner of St. Clare Church. She cherished time spent with her sisters, Janet and Doris, her extended family and enjoyed her book clubs and time with family and friends in Fawn Lake and The Villages, Florida.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anne and Edward Conaty. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack; her loving children John (Tracey), Susan Palphreyman (John), and Christopher (Meghan); her cherished sisters, Janet Simpson and Doris Trivisonno; and her adored grandchildren: Tara Vidal, Brianna Shovel, Kerri Palphreyman, Kevin Palphreyman, Shannon Palphreyman, Sean Murphy, and Connor Murphy. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the wake on Tuesday, October 21, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Clare, 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Anne will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
