

Anthony "Tony" DiSarro died in Staten Island University Hospital North on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Anthony was born in Bayonne, N.J., lived in Manhattan and settled on Staten Island. A 1940 graduate of Stuyvesant High School, he excelled in low and high hurdles for their track and field events. He was an Army veteran stationed in Fort Monmouth, N.J., specializing in radar and radio repair. Anthony retired from the Military Ocean Terminal, Bayonne, N.J., as an electrical engineering technician. An accomplished keyboard musician, he performed with various orchestras for weddings and other celebratory family events for more than 35 years. An honorary national life membership was awarded to Anthony by the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and he was also a member of the Granito-Smith American Legion Post 1296. Anthony's family roots are in Vinchiaturo, Italy. He was a member of the San Bernardino Society. Anthony was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles and loved watching animal-related TV programs. Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lillian (Benzo). He is survived by his devoted daughters, Linda and Peggy; son, Robert; loving grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey and Justin; cherished niece, Bernice Lewis, and nephew, Ronald DiSarro. Visiting is at Casey Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass is Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 101 Cromwell Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10304, followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery.
