Carmela, my beautiful Carmela, I think of you every day.  I miss hearing your voice - you shared so much about your family, about your early life, about your friends.  You will always be my second mama.  I see your beautiful hands and remember the time you comforted me when my mom passed.  I think of your smile and your sense of humor - so many many stories about the Gangsta Grannies - sausages, moonings, dollar bills down the Mayor's pants, and a surprise visit to the fish camp.  I think of all the trips we took - to Kelly Green where I got to meet some of your friends and our walk on the boardwalk holding hands like you did with your beloved husband; our trip to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry for your birthday that included dancing in the Country Music Hall of Fame to a song you and your Angelo used to dance to; our trip to Biloxi and that horrendous Bates motel we ended up in; our trip to New Orleans and all the memories you shared.  Being at Allegro without my folks was made so much easier because you were there.  I think about you and Ed with his therapy dog Molly - the friendly back and forth between you two - New York vs New Jersey!  He passed about a year after you did so don't let him give you a hard time up there!  Carmela, you were my family and I could not love you more.  I hope that you will always know that!

Seems like yesterday we were in a restaurant and your mom loved the pizza scooper so we borrowed it for her! Miss her alot!

The picture that is on her obituary has been sitting beside my computer since she moved to Staten Island.   I look at it every day and miss her every minute.   Her darling Duchess is buried under my pear tree.  My heart is full of thanks to all of you - my second family - for allowing me to share in her love and create memories that will last a lifetime.  She is truly the most interesting person I have never known.  We traveled together - down to Kelly Green to see the house where she lived with her Angelo;  we took a stroll along the pier where she and Angelo used to walk hand in hand.  We traveled to Nashville for her birthday and went to the Grand Old Opry for a show and to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  There were platinum albums on a wall and when they were opened they played the song.    Carmela found one that was a favorite of her and Angelo.  We opened it and danced right there in the museum.   She was the most famous (infamous!) Gangsta Granny and was quite proud of the fact that she was frequently recognized out and about town.   I think I will miss her stories most of all.  She loved every one of you so, so much.  I hope that her stories will be passed down to her beloved grandchildren as she passed down the stories of her childhood and life with her husband and children.  I am so sorry that the world here will miss her light, but I know that Angelo called her home and she is watching over us like he watched over her.    My love and condolences to the beloved Carro family.
