On April 3, 1949, Cheryl (Merola) Maiorini entered this world, born to Louis and Patricia Merola of Brooklyn, New York. As Cheryl journeyed through this life, she touched countless lives, bonded with lifelong friends and created a loving, close-knit family. On Sunday, November 10, 2019, Cheryl gracefully departed from this world after a valiant battle with cancer. Behind her, she has left an enormous legacy of a faithful wife, a devoted mother and an enamored Nana to two beautiful girls.

Cheryl was the eldest of four siblings, raised in Brooklyn, New York into a loving and dear family. She would spent the next seventy years of her life laughing and living beside those three amazing people, Glenn, Gary and Nancy. In 1970, Cheryl married the love of her life, Charlie, who remained her lifelong partner, committed husband and champion throughout almost fifty years of marriage. In December 1983 and October 1987, Cheryl welcomed the two joys of her life: Lauren and Charles. In their minds and hearts, Cheryl will be remembered as an endlessly supportive mother, a best friend and a true force to be reckoned with. Of all the souls in Cheryl's life, her two "nana girls," Giuliana Sofia and Sienna Cheryl, were the most beloved of all. Her best memories will forever be caring for these two precious little girls.

Cheryl's infectious laugh and genuine heart allowed her to effortlessly obtain friends as she traveled through the physical world. Throughout her life, she retained close friendships with countless people from her Brooklyn roots, her Staten Island home, and her darling siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. Those that have taken her lessons to heart will continue to ensure that each and every holiday will be celebrated around family, that there will always be time for a laugh, that everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt and most of all, that everything comes out in the wash.

Cheryl is survived by her mother Patricia (Babe), her siblings Glenn, Gary, and Nancy, and her dearest husband Charlie. Her son Charles and daughter Lauren along with her husband, Peter, will be eternally blessed with memories accumulated throughout their lives. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, sister-in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews and every single soul who her spirit has touched.

Astronomers have written that Great comets are rare, occasionally appearing among the stars once in one’s lifetime. Cheryl Maiorini's soul arched through the night sky of our lives like a brilliant Great comet. But unlike a typical comet that creates a bright tail made of dust particles and ice, Cheryl’s comet created an endless trail of a million smiles and a million memories that her friends and family members will reminisce and remember for the rest of their lives. With the loss of Cheryl, the world is a lesser place but the heavens are a better space.

Aunt Cheryl, I still can’t believe I am writing you this way and it’s with an extremely heavy heart that I do so. You were the first family member I had met when I met Vinny and I loved you immediately. You made me feel part of the family instantly and you became a friend to me and my aunt as well. I always enjoyed my time with you, my talks with you, the many laughs on New Years, the hamptons trips, and our long talks in the pool. You were a comfort and a joy to be around. Motherly, warm , joyful and kind hearted. You truly were my favorite and a one of a kind person and it shows in your amazing, amazing children and your loving wonderful husband. You touched SO many lives and we will never forget you but we sure are going to miss you. You put up a strong fight with positivity and grace. I admire you and your strength and I wish that I had plenty more New Years with you. It won’t be the same without you. Please know that we will forever honor the time we had with you, Feel blessed we got to know you, and will hold a extra special place in our heart for you always . You will be missed dearly. Vinny, myself and the kids love you very much. Thanks for touching our hearts the way you did. You left a mark on us forever.

Remembering all the great times we had growing up, as children in Poughkeepsie and then as adults in Vegas. Cheryl is the epitome of what a woman, daughter, wife, sister, friend and of course her favorite title "Nana" is. I cannot imagine the world without you but I do know you are now at peace and with all your loved ones who went before you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends and you will truly be missed and you will always be loved.
