

Renal Failure. Dave proudly shared that he was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 6/1/1946 and grew up in a small town in Western Pennsylvania named Armbrust. He was the second oldest of five children born to Anne and James McClure. His father was a beloved local minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Dave’s mother was a full time homemaker plus helped with church administrative duties.
Dave loved telling stories about growing up in the country citing easy access to the outdoors as the best part. Attending a one room schoolhouse for the first few grades was also a favorite story . His home county then consolidated and he was bused to school later graduating from Hempfield High School. He continued his education at Juniata College, Huntington Pa., graduating with a BS in Biology. Juniata was where he met Marjorie Albert. They later married 2/8/1969 following their graduation from Juniata. Within the context of the Viet Nam War, Dave decided to go to Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky . The couple moved to Wilmore . Marjorie secured a job as a Protective Service Worker with the Kentucky Department of Child Welfare while Dave earned his Masters of Divinity from Asbury. He graduated 12/71.
The concept of service surfaced as an important value in Dave’s life’s work . This wish to serve started emerging in his course work in seminary. He was most proud of his home repair project for local tobacco sharecroppers’ homes. This was what he chose as his way of sharing his beliefs. Another project was collecting monetary donations from other seminary student families to buy Christmas gifts for local children under the care of the Bureau of Child Welfare. This interest continued after seminary with his job as Director of Community Ministry in Park Slope at a Wesleyan Methodist Church . He spearheaded getting funding for a family day care agency and a Senior Center in the slope . In 1974 Dave left the ministry and found a home in the Arts Industry. His fondest work memories were owning his own transportation, installation, and warehousing company called Transart.
Dave had to leave work in 2017 when he began to have seizures and was unable to continue working. Loosing work was a difficult adjustment but it did leave time for his other interests . He loved to read his National Geographics , New York Times , do his jigsaw saw puzzles ,garden, and take walks . Greatest love was traveling particularly to the West, Grand Canyon , Sedona as well as trips to Scotland , Germany, UK, the Baltic and Mexico .
Dave was particularly proud of becoming a parent when his daughter Rebecca Ann was born 7/18/81. He loved being part of Becky’s growing up years . He proudly gave her hand in marriage to Damian Leibold on 5/23/14. They have had two children Westen ,7/10/16, and Boadica ,9/30/17.
Being caring, strong and dedicated have consistently surfaced as prominent qualities of Dave . He also kept his early idealism forever hoping the world environment would improve often finding humor in the actual state of affairs and sometimes being sorely disappointed . David Weston McClure you will be missed but know you are loved, and your life has been noted . You were always true to who you aspired to be.
