David A. Weeks

David Weeks of Great Kills passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He grew up in West Brighton later settling in Great Kills in 1993. He was a graduate of Curtis High School and earned his B.S. Degree in Fine Arts from The College of Staten Island.

He was a Supervisor with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Working throughout the city for over 35 years.

David was passionate about music his whole life. He was an incredibly talented guitar player. His love began when his Mother started to teach him the piano but he quickly turned to Rock and Roll and the electric guitar. He started jamming with his friends and forming bands in high school. He toured the United States in his younger years but most recently had gotten back together with his old band mates and formed the JWB band and was big in the Staten Island music scene.

David was a family man and a devoted husband to Karen (Schropp), they spent over 30 wonderful years together. His proudest achievement was being a father and was most proud of his three children Kelsey, Zachary, and Ian who had all caught the music bug from him, they also enjoy playing multiple instruments and performed in many bands as well.

David is also survived by his sisters Judy (Steven) Kowaleski and Karen (Michael) Lawrence who he loved with all his heart, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation for David will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 8:00 PM, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
