Erin Leigh Aponte

Erin Leigh Aponte, daughter of Angelo and Linda Aponte, born on April 9, 1977, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Richmond University Medical Center on August 16, 2025. Erin lived her entire life on Staten Island, her first twenty-six years with her family in West Brighton and then with her AHRC family on Lander Ave. She is survived by her parents, her brothers Kevin (wife Dawn), Kenneth (wife Emily), her sister, Aileen Wheeler (husband Christopher), her nieces and nephews Matthew, Madison, Thomas, Caroline, Beatrice, John, Maeve, Andrew, Finley and Owen as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She loved spending time with her family and roommates at the group home. Erin was a fixture on the sidelines at her siblings’ sporting events and concerts and enjoyed music and dancing. The Aponte Family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Landers Ave. for their wonderful care and support of our daughter and sister as well as the medical staff at Richmond University Medical Center.

Visitation will be at Harmon’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 19 from 4pm - 8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday, August 20 at 10am with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery following Mass.
