

Born and raised in Itri, Italy, he attended school there and served in the Italian army during World War II. He moved to Stapleton in 1970 and settled in Eltingville in 2002.
Mr. Masella was a construction worker in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island. He retired in 1986.
He enjoyed time spent with his family. He especially loved to play games with them, including scopa, an Italian card game, and tombola, a bingo-like game also popular in Italy. He had a wonderful vegetable garden and liked to make his own wine. He taught his grandchildren Italian, and enjoyed watching RAI television..
His wife of 32 years, the former Rosa Sperduto, died in 1988.
Surviving are his son, Pasquale; his daughter, Concetta Montuori; a brother, Guerino; a sister, Francesca Saccoccio; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Christian Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp. Arrangements are being handled by the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners.
