

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan La Chance, age 89, of Staten Island, originally from Brooklyn, New York, who peacefully departed from this world on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She was born to loving parents John and May Collins and grew up surrounded by the warmth of their family home.
Joan dedicated many years of her life working as a secretary for Shalom Brothers, where her professionalism and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her unwavering love and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her three beloved children, Diane, Ellis, and Gail, who were the pride and joy of her life. Joan cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in their accomplishments. She also leaves behind her dear brother Kevin Collins.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband Andrew and her brother Jack. Although they have left this world before her, their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation for Joan, which will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, February 9, 2024, at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas Church, situated at 6097 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10309. Following the service, a committal service will be held at 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Cemetery, located at 160 Rock Ridge Ave, Monticello, NY 12701.
In her journey through life, Joan touched the hearts of many with her kindness, grace, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the cherished memories she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
