With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Joseph Caccese who passed away on November 1, 2024. Born on March 28, 1935, in Staten Island, he was a devoted husband to Carol for 67 years and a loving father to Denise and John. He was a proud New Brightoner for 65 years.
Joe was hard-working and dedicated. At 18, he enlisted in the Army, where he served in the Korean War. After his discharge, he spent 55 years working as a longshoreman where he was known for his humility and formidable work ethic. Throughout his long career, he forged many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Aruba, St. Maarten, and much of the Caribbean. He was often spending his weekends at neighborhood restaurants, Monmouth Racetrack or Atlantic City where his children and grandchildren would enthusiastically accompany him.
Though he may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to be honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by Carol, Denise (Sam), John (Nancy), brother Carlo, 4 grandchildren, Francine (Ralph), Danielle (Jeff), John, and Nicolette (John) and 8 great-grandchildren (John Joseph, Madison, Penelope, Madelina, Ralph, Savannah, Sophia, and John Carmine), as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 11/5 at 11am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Visiting hours will be Monday, 11/4 at Harmon Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00pm.
We find comfort in knowing that our beloved Joseph's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
