He graduated from John Jay High School in Brooklyn and worked for Whole Foods there. During the past two years, he lived in both Annadale and Brooklyn.
Mr. Cuccurullo was a die-hard New York Yankees fan who also enjoyed many other sports, his family said. He was also very personable, with a cheerful personality and was loved by all.
"He was very proud of his nephew, Michael-Anthony Pica," said his sister, Vivian Pica. "He loved him and considered him as the son that he never had."
Surviving is his sister, Vivian.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
