Devoted to her family, a gracious greeter at LiGreci's Staaten
On Saturday March 9, 2019, Josephine LiGreci-Kent, age 97, passed away gracefully at her granddaughter's residence in Hoffmans Estates, Ill.
Josephine was born May 7, 1921, in Manhattan to John and Josephine LiGreci. She grew up in Elm Park in Staten Island, attended P.S. 21 and graduated from Port Richmond High School.
Josephine worked in Manhattan at Fritchie Brother's Chemical Company at the age of 18 and worked there for 20 years, and then worked at K-Mart in the administrative office for 10 years.
Josephine was best known for being a greeter at her family's catering hall, LiGreci's Staaten, and always welcomed patrons with a friendly smile. She lived on Oakland Avenue, Staten Island, with her parents until she met her late husband, William Charles Kent. They married in 1955 and raised two children, a son, John, and a daughter, Lori Anne.
Josephine was a devout Catholic, and a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother her entire life. Josephine would help those in need - family and friends, strangers, and even stray and hungry animals. She was truly one of the most giving, selfless, ever-optimistic and grateful human beings to ever grace this earth.
Josephine will be remembered by many as sweet, genuinely warm, and a personable, classy lady.
Josephine is survived by her brother, Jack LiGreci; her son, John Kent; and daughter, Lori Rogers. She was the cherished and beloved grandmother of Adrienne, Janelle, Michael, Leslie, Renee, John and Dianna; and great-grandmother of eight.
