Laura Charlotte Schwartz (née Auriemmo), 48, passed away on April 6, 2026. Born on May 14, 1977, in Queens, New York, Laura was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel Auriemmo and Madeline (Bach) Auriemmo.
Laura proudly served her country in the United States Army as a Water Purification Specialist at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Following her military service, she built a career marked by dedication and compassion, working with Landmark Aviation and later in Human Resources with Chimes at Fort Bragg. In 2013, Laura relocated to Maine, where she continued her professional journey. She returned home to Staten Island in early 2020, where she worked at the Great Kills Friendship Club and devoted herself to caring for her beloved mother in her final years.
In 2019, Laura reconnected with childhood friend, Matthew Schwartz, whom she had known since the third grade. Their bond quickly rekindled into a loving partnership, and they were married in 2021. Together, they shared a passion for food and adventure, delighting in exploring restaurants throughout Staten Island.
Laura found her greatest joy in her role as Godmother and aunt. She cherished “her babies” and took immense pride in showering them with love and generosity. She had a deep love for animals, especially cats. She was happiest, curled up on the couch surrounded by her pets, wrapped in one of her many cozy blankets, watching her favorite Hallmark movies. Laura was also a devoted fan of the New England Patriots; she rarely missed a game and loved cheering on her team.
Laura is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Matt Schwartz; her siblings, Andrea Biviano of Staten Island, Vincent Biviano of Mocksville, NC, Gary Biviano of Staten Island, and Trish Cannon (Zac) of Fayetteville, NC; her nephews, Joey, Derek, Michael, Jackson, and Alex; and her niece, Ariel; and her godfather, Sal Samartano.
