Leah Mitchell was born on Staten Island to Joyce and Ira Goldstein in West Brighton. She was a multi-disciplined artist, a flute major at the High School of Performing Arts (The Fame School) and a dance major at SUNY Purchase at the Conservatory of Dance, where she graduated in 1987.
She created original theater pieces, performed with dance companies in New York City, and wrote and performed songs as part of her original comedic band, Two Chicks and a Casio. She acted in numerous independent films, most recently in her husband Neil Mitchell's original short film, The Whistler. She also appeared in Federal Hill, Ed Burns' films Sidewalks of New York and others.
She started her own ballet school at Snug Harbor and consulted with a large ballet academy in NYC. She met and married the love of her life, Neil Mitchell, in 2001 and they had two beautiful and talented daughters who were the light of her life and carry on their mother's creative spirit.
