Lois A. Ebner of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, independence, and a sharp mind, along with deep love for her family.
Born and raised in Staten Island, NY to William and Mary (Dall) Bauer on February 16, 1928. She attended Curtis High School, where she was known as an honor student and a proud member of the school’s basketball team. After graduating, she worked in New York City in secretarial roles, putting her intelligence, precision, and work ethic to use. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Phil, and the two were married on October 16, 1948.
Baseball was a true family passion, and Lois loved nothing more than watching her sons play. Her dedication to the sport went beyond the bleachers - she served as president of the Mid Island Little League Ladies Auxiliary, most memorably in 1964 when her son Billy’s team captured the Little League World Series championship.
Lois and her husband relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1977 and continued her career as an administrative assistant at Alamo Car Rental. In the Everglades Park Community, she was a gracious and welcoming hostess who helped organize and run social events, bringing people together with warmth, style, and a great sense of fun.
Known for her impressive crafting, knitting and baking skills, Lois was a gifted creator, and many families are lucky to still display the beautiful holiday decorations she designed year after year. She was quick-witted, loved to laugh, and always appreciated life’s simple pleasures, including a well-timed 5:00 p.m. drink. Always beautifully dressed, Lois took pride in her appearance and carried herself with confidence and style. Above all else, she was extremely proud of her family, speaking of them often and celebrating every milestone with joy.
Lois was predeceased by her husband Philip and her siblings Harold, William, Gilbert and Marie. She was deeply loved by her surviving family: her sons Philip and his wife Katie, and William and his wife Virginia; her five cherished granddaughters, Lauren (Wally), Anne-Marie (Jamie), Mary (Derek), Kathryn, and Tricia (Frank); and her twelve adored great-grandchildren - Luke, Annaleigh, Jay, Dylan, Tyler, Madeline, Alexandra, Rose, Lily, William, Lia, and Sam - after whose arrival she proudly took on the title of “GiGi.”
A memorial service will be held at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, located at 1634 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY, 10314. The service is scheduled for January 24, 2026, at 10:45 am. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Lois’s remarkable life.
Friends and loved ones are welcome to share memories, photos, and messages here as we honor Lois Ebner and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.
