Our beautiful mother has passed away after a long illness on Sept. 10, 2019, and now rests in peace.
Madeline was born in Brooklyn but lived on Richmond Avenue on her parents' farm during the 1930's, eventually moving to Brooklyn. She graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School as a beautician.
She met the love of her life, Gerald Tenebruso, at a wedding. They purchased a new home in Dongan Hills on Staten Island in 1956 and lived there the rest of their lives. Their property was beautifully landscaped and Madeline was very proud to see people taking pictures of their own family for special occasions on the property. The home was always full of relatives, friends and neighbors having large backyard parties, birthdays, and holidays that always had an open door for neighbors and friends.
Madeline was an excellent cook, especially authentic Italian dishes. She used fresh vegetables and fruit from her garden to make fabulous dishes, and pies that many people had the opportunity to enjoy. She enjoyed playing cards, mahjong, going to Mass and crocheting. She crocheted many beautiful sweaters, blankets and hats. In 1984 Madeline became a school aide at IS 2 and retired after 22 years of service. She belonged to the St. Ann's Rosary Society.
Our Mom was extremely dedicated to our father, who passed away in October of 2006. They had an exciting and fun-filled, loving life together, traveling to Europe many times and throughout the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. They loved to dance, especially the Peabody, and did so at the very many weddings they attended.
She is survived by four children, Nicholas (Ann Marie), Nancy Monahan (John), Carolyn Pinto (Michael) and Ralph. She has seven grandchildren, Joseph Tenebruso (Jill), Gerald Tenebruso, Michael Pinto, Anthony Pinto, Nicole Tenebruso, Christopher Tenebruso and Callie Tenebruso, and four great-grandchildren, Juliette, Alexandra, Nicholas and Joseph.
She is also survived by her loving sister, Rosalie Souders (George), and many beautiful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Caroline (Buonocore) and Ralph Cinco, and loving sister, Mary Pepino (John).
Viewing is Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Avenue, Staten island, N.Y. 10314. Mass is at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at St. Ann's Church, 101 Cromwell Avenue, Staten Island, N.Y. 10304. Burial is at Moravian Cemetery.
