

Patricia Jean Rychter, 80, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026. Born on February 2, 1946, in Albuquerque, N.M. Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Connors. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Staten Island, where she spent the rest of her life.
Patricia graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1963 and later worked for J.P. Morgan in New York City, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Rychter. The couple married on September 8, 1968, and settled in Westerleigh, Staten Island, where they built a beautiful life together for 57 years.
Together, Patricia and Joseph shared a love of travel and adventure. They took their first trip abroad to Ireland in 1994 and continued traveling the world each year until 2019, visiting an incredible 47 countries. Patricia also cherished her annual spa trips to Mexico with her sister, Michele, and many dear friends for over 25 years.
Patricia devoted herself to raising her family before beginning a 35-year career at Eger Nursing Home in 1980, where she worked in the Administration Department until retiring in 2015.
A devoted parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church and member of the Red Hat Society, Patricia especially enjoyed spending time with her family at her daughter Christine’s home in Cranberry Lake, where she had spent summers with her family as a child.
Patricia was predeceased by her beloved sister, Michele Tellefsen.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Rychter; her son, Kevin Rychter; her daughter, Christine McClaughry, and son-in-law, Brian McClaughry; and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas McClaughry, and Jake and Samantha Rychter.
Family and friends are invited to attend the wake at Casey’s on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family R.C. Church, followed by a private cremation.
Visitation will be held at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, US, on May 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Church of the Holy Family, Staten Island, NY 10314, US, on May 19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
